Study centre IMA International - Training for development Founded in 1983, IMA has developed into a leading international provider of participative training courses and innovative, practical and integrated training consultancy to organizations worldwide. 250 full time and affiliated consultants specialize in all areas of training, institutional strengthening and human resource development. Over 8,000 people from every peopled continent have been trained on both the regular courses held every year in the United Kingdom, Thailand, Australia, South Africa and on special courses requested by organizations worldwide. IMA has developed an excellent reputation with DFID, The British Council, The World Bank, FAO, EU and numerous other multilateral and bilateral donors, government departments, NGOs. commercial companies and educational institutions worldwide. Courses are fully updated each year to meet the changing needs of organizations and ensure that training initiatives lead to real results. Quality is assured through the international standard ISO 9000:2000. Since its establishment 20 years ago, IMA has worked with a variety of people, in many countries and in numerous contexts: with villages to resolve local community issues, with governments to achieve strategic change or sectoral review, with aid agencies to improve performance, with commercial companies to improve skills of staff and with the international community to document and compare experience. Training and development inputs have been short-term, long-term, in-country and out-of-country. IMA offers a wide range of regular courses covering most areas of management and development. These are held at training venues in Brighton, UK, Bangkok/Chiang Mai in Thailand, Brisbane, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa. All courses are designed to deliver expert tuition in the most positive learning environment, and are fully participatory, covering both group capacity building and individual learning. Through individual project work and personal action plans, training focuses on the need for swift and sure implementation of new skills learned, when trainees return to the workplace.
